"I have mostly produced artwork with themes and subjects about the Black experience because that is me, my experience. My mother's family was from Alabama, and I grew up hearing stories from my grandmother about the American South and how blacks were treated. From a young age, I was surrounded by family and friends who were progressive and strong, who were involved in the civil rights movement and stood up against racism and discrimination." - Barbara Moore
